I want to buy a hair straightener which works on both wet and dry hair. I have long hair and would like to know which brand works best. Also, will straightening hair every week damage hair? Are serums/sprays helpful? If yes, which ones?

straightening is a complicated process. straightening without preparing will damage your hair. be sure to use moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and when you feel like you need it, deep conditioner. as for straightening your hair, do it layer by layer. perhaps 4 layers. when youre done, put smoothing cream on your hair to defrizz and such. the best straightener on the market that does the LEAST damage to your hair is expensive, but WELL WORTH THE MONEY and that is chi straighteners.

straigthening your hair EVERDAY will murder your hair...

i don't have a specific cbrand... i just go to my aunts hair salon and grab one.

and the only surem i use is the one that makes sure that my hair won't break or snap on me

the chi is the healthiest for your hair it gets to about 100 degrees and it is ceramic which is the best kind to get

if you straighten your hair once a wek it will not dmage it but if you do it every day then yes it will damage it...i dont know bout any irons that work on wet and dry hair.

The best Wet 2 Dry straightener is from Conair. Revlon has one, but it doesn't work too well, and it is really damaging.

Well, straightening your hair does damage it. Doesn't matter whether you do it once a month or every day. But you'll do good by only straightening once a week.

Serums are very helpful. Especially Thermasilk heat protection serums.

Different temperatures can be very confusing. About 200 degrees F should be good.

Remember, straightening hair gets really addicting. Some people can't even go in public without ironing their hair.

Straightening your hair is always damaging it. However, using sprays/serums really do help to keep it under control. Also, using a hair straightener for wet hair doesn't work even close to the same. That doubles, maybe even triples the damage. I've gone through so many hair straighteners. The best one I've had is my CHI, it's pretty expensive but it will last virtually forever. The one that I have starts blinking when it's hot enough too, so it's really easy.

Yes, straightening your hair damages it badly, no matter how good the brand is.

The right temperature all depends on how thick/thin your hair is; if it's long and thick, you need to use a high temperature. If it's thin then a lower temperature is needed.

Conditioning it everyday helps reduce the damage, but it doesn't get rid of the damage.

straighting your hair everyday strips the moisture out of your hair. Bed Head works even thogh its expensive. Also, while your straightening, use a striahtening serum. its helps a lot!

yes. get the conair wet/dry iron. (www.conair.com) straightneng does damage ur hair but just as long as you condition it properly and use protection sprays as u straighten it. the protection i use is Nexxus Heat Protexx. and use the straighner on the lowest setting unless u have thick hair. the lower the heat, the better the protection.

Straightners will damage your hair because of the heat so a protective spray will help. V05 miracle mist protects your hair and conditions it tressemes is also supposed to work well! Using one every week will cause damage but it will help to use the spray i use one almost everyday during the school year and i still have healthy hair. I reccomen you dont use a straightner on wet hair because it frys it even though it says it doesnt it damages your hair more and wont hold as well. The temp. depends on your hair type low for thin and fragile and then hotter if its thicker and curlier. Chi is supposed to be good but its expensive. Golden Hot is good and can be found at sally beauty supply stores. Hope this helped!

pretty much anything will damage your hair- dye, straightening, curling, and perms.

for best results and minimum damage get a chi. they're amazing.

products do help minimize damage. also deep condition once a week. for straightening herbal essences dangerously straight line is good. try the flat out finishing spray. spray it on before you use the straightener. after you're done try a good hairspray/finishing spray, like shaper by sebastian. or the weather resistant hairspray from john freida's frizz ease line.

if you have blond hair it is not advised by any salon due to it will damage your hair and if you color your hair it will break off... straightened mine once and it took a while and did a lot of damage to mine.....

yes but not if you use a thermal heat protectant and get regular trims . try CHI straightener with Kms sealant spray, works well

Wet 2 Straight works great and its good for ur hair because when u straighten it the water comes out the top in steam. and yea it does damage it but use a shampoo and conditioner that reverses that damage. and it helps if u use a defrizzing cream before u straighten because then it locks in the moisture in ur hair. but if i were u i would try and straighten my hair as much as possible when its dry because straightening it when it s wet is going to fry it. hope this helps!
