Does lemon juice actually bring out the natural hightlights in your hair or does it bleach it?

IF they bring out the natural highlights can you just buy the bottled lemon juice from the market, put it in a spray bottle and spray into your hair and go out into the sun? or do you need to get fresh lemons? and if you do do that, is it permanent?

I'm not sure whether lemon juice brings out your natural highlights or whether it bleaches. However I do know that fresh lemons work best because the have nothing that takes out the acidity in the juice, which means its acidity is higher than lemon juice diluted by water (which some lemon juices in the bottles are). If you use fresh lemons, no it is not permanent. It will fade away after a couple of washes.

I think you should be carefull putting things on your hair remeber lemons contain acid.In the wrong application it could turn out to be damaging. The products being sold have been tested but use them at your own risk.

ok people say that it just lightens your hair a little bit...but when my sis was like...12 she went to my aunts pool...and she put like alot of lemon juice in her hair...and it totally ****** up her hair...like one spot was like a total diff color...it wasnt even ....she had 2 diff color hair tones for like the next 2 years cos she didnt cut it...lol i remember that it was bad...seriously dont do it...and if you do ...do like 5 sprays......

Yes it does but you must always remember that a lemon has acid with in so it can dry your hair ....

Yes it does, but you have to bein the sun for it to work. Theres also an inexpensive product (that I've never treid, but I heard it works) called Sun-In, which is a spray, but still requires sunlight.

Pretty soon, I'm going to try a henna shampoo. It's suppoed to be, for example, like a lemon juice for people with dark hair, like me. Lemon doesn't work on black/dark brown hair. Henna actually lightens naturally to a more of an auburn tint with repeated use. It's the same stuff that people from India use to stain their hands in elaborate floral designs on special occasions, like a wedding. I can't wait to order it :D

Here's the link if anyone wants it:

PS. You don;t need the sun for this. For blonde hair though I think it darkens it and it may be uneven. I'm not sure if you should use this if youre a blonde.
